LoserLoser by Jerry Spinelli

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

loser by Jerry Spinelli was published in 2002. This is a book about bullying. The author has won a newbery metal. It has 218 pages and took about 3 weeks to read. The main character is Donald, his mother, his father, his sister, the old lady, the waiting man, Claudia, and Andrew and school teachers. The setting was during school, it took place mostly at school.
School was the setting. The protagonist is Donald and he has to make many choices, he is bullied in school. He is always made fun of for being different and not perfect. The major conflict is bullying. The kids at school are the antagonists.
The author is trying to show bullying isn't right. he shouldn't have to deal with bullies cause its not right. The characters show that because they all make fun of him for being himself. I disagree with all this, kids shouldn't be bullied, even though most kids are, they're either bullied or they are a bully.
I like this book because everyone can relate, they either are a bully or are bullied. its not right to bully and this could show kids that they shouldn't bully kids, it can hurt. they need to realize words do hurt.
I recommend this book to someone who likes children stories, its for all ages. i think everyone should read it because we can all relate. its something that kids can relate to and parents will know about. kids are bullied all the time and its horrible. kids should grow up happy and safe. not bullied and put down.

GoodReads Book Review #1- A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer

A child called itA child called it by David Pelzer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Child Called It by David Pelzer was published in 1993. This is a auto biography / child abuse book. The author has won many awards he was honored as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Americans. It has 109 pages and took about 2 days to read because I didn't want to stop reading it. The main character is David, the author, his mother, his father, his two brothers and school teachers. The setting was year round, it took place mostly at Davids house and school.

David's house was the setting. The protaginist is David Pelzer and he has to make many choices, he isn't allowed to eat and he gets beat daily. His mom makes him inhale bleach and wear old clothes. He wants to tell his teachers but he's scared beatings will be worse. The major conflict is the child abuse from his mother. His mother is the antagonist. The other characters are his dad, who is scared to tell his mom to stop so he leaves, his two brothers who his mom favors, and the teachers that try to help David.

The author is trying to show child abuse is brutal. He was treated very bad and wants people to know that go through this aren't alone. The characters show that because his mother treats him horrible and he can't tell anyone or it will get worse for him. I disagree with all of his mothers desisions, she hides what she does to her son from everyone and he is scared to tell anyone, she hurts him bad. Hes stabbed and had to breathe in bleach.

I like this book alot because its something you can't put down. its a great story and i can imagine that its really hard for him. People shouldn't have to go through this type of things. The fact that a mother would want to hurt her own child is horrible. This book is inpireing and shows that people can survive very horrible things, you just have to believe in yourself and stay strong. I didn't dislike anything about it it was a very great book.

I recommend this book to someone who likes sad stories. Its a book you cant put down. It is about child abuse so it is very sad but its a really good book. I don't like happy boks because theres nothing to look forward to, in sad/ scary books you don't know what will happen. They are just better to read for me because i can never put it down.
